Frequently Asked Questions
Your current agreement to receive water service from Marina Coast Water District came about because of various agreements and settlements going back to 1998 when the Army owned the property. As a result of a recent settlement agreement with Bay View Community, changes are being made to your water service. These changes include:
- Bay View owns the water and sewer delivery system for the mobile home community, including all the pipes carrying water inside the community from the District's 8-inch master meter. The District has no obligation to provide any maintenance or service to non-District owned water and sewer systems or pipelines, which includes the Bay View-owned water and sewer delivery system and pipelines.
- Bay View will continue to maintain the water and sewer delivery system and pipelines on Bay View's side of the 8" meter.
- Bay View purchased and installed new meters at its cost.
- Once installed, the meters will be maintained and replaced by the District.
- All individual ¾ inch meters, including the Bay View office, will pay at the same rate as other Seaside residents based on volume.
- In the event the District is required to access a resident's meter, and the meter is located within a resident unit's fencing, a notice will be given to Bay View within 24 hours to notify the resident of the District's access requirements. This may include the resident removing any impediments to the District's access, including but not limited to removal of any animals.
- All individual Bay View residents (and Bay View's office) will establish, be billed for, pay for, and terminate water service directly with the District.
- The District will read all individual meters and directly bill and collect all charges from residents and the Bay View office, including the standard monthly District charges which are not currently charged to Bay View residents.
- The District will follow its standard collection procedures to collect delinquent charges such as issuing 48-hour shut-off notices and pursuing collection actions.
- The District and Bay View will agree upon the contents of a joint notice to Bayview's tenants which will describe the transfer of the tenant water accounts to the District, which will include but not be limited to the District responsibilities, charges, and termination rules.
